A young man who survives an attack by vampires on him and his girlfriend is recruited by a group of underground rebels who fight back against the bloodsuckers' ever-growing social reach of power.

SYNOPSIS:

Cold open

A night in an urban neighbourhood. ALEX (21) meets up with CATERINA (20) on a ledge above a playground. Flirtatious and playful, Caterina challenges Alex to catch her, leading to an energetic parkour chase through the playground where he eventually tackles and kisses her. They then engage in their usual nightly free-running routine across various buildings, which is one of their favourite pastimes. Later, while sitting together on a rooftop, they are suddenly surrounded by three hooded figures who reveal themselves as vampires. The vampires overpower them; one feeds on Caterina while Alex is restrained. With her last strength, Caterina stabs one attacker, freeing Alex and urging him to escape. Heartbroken but following her plea, Alex flees using his parkour skills while two vampires pursue him, leaving the third behind with the wounded Caterina.

Act I

After escaping the vampire attack, Alex is rescued by a small group of vampire hunters—STEFANIA SALAZAR, MIA MARIAMA, and STAVROS STEFANIDIS—who bring him to their safe house. Though shaken by Caterina’s apparent death, Alex is cared for by the group and meets their other members, including LEO LUNDH and their leader, Lt. LEX LEVIN. Levin explains that vampires secretly influence global power structures and are preparing for a “Blood Apocalypse,” while the group—called the Soldiers of Dawn—works to resist them. He invites Alex to join their fight by becoming a fellow soldier. Overwhelmed and grieving, Alex refuses and leaves to be alone, though the hunters suspect he will return if he survives.

ACT II

Alex returns to his apartment, traumatized and isolated as nightmares and paranoia haunt him after Caterina’s death. After days of grief and withdrawal, Stavros visits and urges him to join the hunters for revenge, but Alex initially refuses. Remembering Caterina’s encouragement to “keep flying,” he eventually returns to the group. Meanwhile, two vampires, LUKAS and SIGRID, are shown carrying out a brutal massacre before receiving the new mission of hunting down the Soldiers of Dawn. The hunters later set a trap in a park to capture a vampire, using Stef as bait. The plan succeeds, and they restrain the creature, but when given the chance to kill it, Alex cannot bring himself to do it and walks away, revealing he is not yet ready for the violence of their war.

ACT III

Alex continues to struggle with guilt and grief over leaving Caterina behind, haunted by dreams and visions of her. Mia comforts him and reminds him that he is not alone, but Alex remains emotionally stuck. Days later, Stef confronts him and explains that everyone in the group has their own way of coping with trauma—whether fighting, meditating, creating, or partying—and urges him to find his own outlet and purpose. Realizing that surviving must mean something, Alex begins to move forward: he cleans himself up, arms himself with vampire-hunting tools, and returns to the rooftops using his parkour skills – and for the first time in a while, he remembers what it feels like to be truly alive. Sitting high above the city, he finally finds a sense of peace, imagining Caterina beside him again, supportive and whole.
