SYNOPSIS:
King of the Road is a broad comedy about the frustration and lack of power and control we all feel when we are driving: constantly being driven off the road by inconsiderate road hogs; assholes who refuse to yield the right of way; punks with woofers in their cars that rattle the fillings out of our teeth, and finally people who just flip you the bird for driving like a human being. Marshall Danby is a quiet unassuming elementary school bus driver who has had enough. Marshall is basically road-kill on the highway of life who gets no respect from his co-workers, fellow drivers or even the bus load of elementary school kids he drives to and from school. One day one of his co-workers tells him that if he wants some respect he has to drive as if “he’s King of the Road.”- adopt the attitude that everyone else on the road is there only through his benevolence. Marshall decides to take it even further: live his life as if he really is King of the Road. He builds the ultimate car, adapts a super-hero attitude, and begins running assholes off the road. By day he’s Marshall Danby, school bus driver: By night he’s “The Road Vigilante.” The public loves their new hero. The Road Vigilante becomes a folk hero. Marhall’s confidence booms. He finally asks out the girl of his dreams. Even in his day life Marshall is getting some respect. All is going well until suddenly there is another Road Vigilente! A rival for not only the public’s attention, but Marshall’s girl.
