As Christianity and Danish law seek to invade this tiny Island of Bornu, a Moor swordsman fights to defend his way of life, all while taking on the woes of a king, he can’t quite trust, but is bound to serve and protect.
SYNOPSIS:
History will never speak the name Matis Jarl, because he is not a Saxon king, nor is he a Danish warrior. But Matis Jarl is extraordinary. One King will fight to steal their wealth, while another King will fight to claim the land and conform the people. Matis Jarl must fight to stop it all.
In the year of our Lord 1002, on the tiny Island of Bornu, three Moor kingdoms go to war; the province of Mound, the province of Orange, and the province of Afer. When Afer’s King Vlad convinces Orange’s King Hiram to attempt a power-grab, it’s Matis Jarl along with his two companions, Jasper Eason and Yuri Kluntz, who joins the fight to protect and defend the province of Mound and King Mauri.
King Mauri is the victor, but for how long?
King Mauri receives a gift that, to the Christians, is worth more than the price of gold, but the king doesn’t know what it is or what to do with it; as it’s worthless to him. However, this Christian relic will later play its part in the invasion by King Aethelred II.
As peace in the provinces once again prevails, King Mauri hosts a party as a gesture of good will. During a celebratory visit, a drunken King Vlad assaults, King Mauri’s sister, Princess Adelaide. Jasper catches him in the act and kills King Vlad in order to save the princess’ life. Now, King Mauri is torn between obeying a law he, himself put into place and strictly enforces or save a friend’s life.
In the meantime, a ruthless Dane named Abishai Heleb sends his foot soldiers from Island to Island to plunder and pillaged; while the King of England, Aethelred II, plans an invasion of his own; the Island of Bornu just happens to be in both their paths. Heleb has an advantage that Aethelred II can only dream of, and ally in King Mauri’s younger brother Prince George.
With the help of Prince George, Heleb tries to dethrone King Mauri, but Matis and Yuri once again come to the King’s aid. This is the final stray for Prince George.
