When friends begin denying events she remembers, and their appearance inexplicably changes, Nicole is forced to figure out what is happening, confronting discrepancies between her own memory and reality.
SYNOPSIS:
Nicole and her husband Mark, who have not spent time with their friends for a long time, finally arrive with them in a small town, at a secluded house on top of a hill, inherited by their friend Jess. They plan to spend a few quiet days away from the city. But almost immediately Nicole begins to notice disturbing inconsistencies. Events she has just witnessed suddenly cease to exist. Actions that happened yesterday are erased from the memory of those around her. At first, it seems like a strange coincidence. But soon the inconsistencies become impossible to ignore. Friends she talked and laughed with the previous evening begin to disappear. Gradually, the faces of others change. Their words contradict her memories. They deny what she saw with her own eyes. Even Mark -- her husband and the closest person to her -- begins to behave as if the reality Nicole exists in does not match his own.
The only person who does not deny her experiences is Fred -- a local resident living nearby. He knows this place better than anyone, and gradually leads Nicole to the truth she has been unable to accept for many years. Trying to find an explanation, Nicole goes deeper and deeper into the mystery of the house and the place itself. She discovers signs of someone else’s presence, old belongings, and a photograph of an unknown girl, not realizing that these are her personal belongings. Gradually, Nicole realizes that the problem is not this place. She herself has changed. Many years ago, after the death of her child, Nicole was unable to cope with the loss and shut herself inside this house, refusing reality. The people she sees around her -- her husband Mark, her friends, their conversations and events -- are only fragments of her memory. Her mind creates an image of the past, forming a new happy reality, not realizing that it is only an illusion of her former life that she is trying to bring back and live again.
Left alone with the truth, Nicole is forced to face what she has been running from all these years. For the first time, she sees herself from the outside -- an elderly woman living alone among the ghosts of her own memories. The house that seemed like a place of rest turns out to be the place where she spent most of her life in solitude, unable to let go of the past. And now, in order to free herself, she will have to accept the truth.
