After the death of its owner, a pet shop is about to go out of business. His son may be able to save the day if his father's ghost doesn't foil his plan while trying to make amends with him.

SYNOPSIS:

RICK KING, 20s, a former semipro baseball player, sells used cars and plays on the dealership's baseball team, hoping to get noticed by a minor league club until the owner decides he needs a new pitcher and fires him on the same day his wife reveals she’s pregnant. Rick's mom invites him to work at the family pet shop. His dad, HANK, 50s, who hides his money and health troubles, is unsympathetic because Rick won’t take an interest in the business. Hank and Rick argue and Hank suffers a heart attack.

Hank shows no signs of recovery and although Rick blames himself, he pours his heart out to his mom about a lifetime of trying to please Hank, only to meet constant criticism. They discover that the pet shop is massively in debt. Rick consults with his dad about a plan to sell exotic pets and sponsor a baseball team for publicity and believes they are in agreement even though Hank can't communicate with anyone. The pet shop thrives. Hank’s so opposed to the idea that when he wakes up he has a fatal heart attack. He arrives at the Pearly Gates, and Saint Peter sends him back to make amends.

Rick and Hank spend more time together and have more meaningful conversations than they did when Hank was alive, but Rick can’t see Hank or hear his apologizes, advice and praise. While attempting to protect his son from the dangers of selling exotic pets, animals escape and Rick gets sued. A female judge from heaven, also making amends, convinces her twin sister judge to dismiss the case when Hank pleads guilty without success. Rick’s old boss buys a parrot that only talks to Hank after his parrot team mascot dies. No one is aware of their bond until the parrot and Hank cheer for Rick at a game between the two teams. Rick isn’t as quick as his mother to believe Hank is with them, but Hank manages to convince Rick and receive his wings.
