A family shut their front door repeatedly during their daily routine. But then they don't.
SYNOPSIS:
The film follows the Hartwell family - parents Geoff and Laney, and their daughters Isobel (17) and Louise (13) - through what initially is ordinary domestic life. The story is told through a series of vignettes showing family members coming and going: returning from outings, school arrivals, package deliveries, and late-night returns.
However, as the film progresses, subtle visual cues and an increasingly ominous soundtrack suggest that someone is watching the family's movements. We used a single, static camera position focused entirely on their front door to build mounting dread and tension.
The cinematography becomes progressively more claustrophobic as the camera slowly zooms in on the door with each scene, creating a sense of mounting paranoia. Brief glimpses of shadows and reflections hint at a sinister presence lurking just outside the frame. With the single-shot concept we wanted to maximize the tension through minimalist filmmaking.
The tension escalates through a series of rapid-fire door slams that mirror a frantic heartbeat, building to the horrific moment when the family returns from a night out in good spirits, unaware that their stalker is finally ready to strike.
The film culminates in a home invasion that transforms the door - previously a symbol of safety and security - into a portal for something terrible and the loss of sanctuary.
