After receiving their dorm assignment, three freshmen walk deeper into Dutch High’s shifting campus—where lanterns ignite without flame, trees murmur in rhythm, and the path itself seems to be studying them before leading to a dormitory that may have been waiting for their arrival.
SYNOPSIS:
Moments after leaving the Housing Office with a tarnished key bound in red thread, Nor, Kim, and Ema begin the long walk toward Dormitory Building Two.
The East Path stretches farther than it should. Stone markers appear without explanation. Lanterns flicker to life as the girls approach and dim behind them, casting shadows that feel misaligned. The trees creak—not from wind, but from adjustment—as if subtly repositioning to observe.
No other students are visible. Curfew feels active in the silence.
As the campus begins to emerge through the mist, Kim recalls her grandfather’s warnings about Dutch High’s origins—a school not simply built, but assembled. Not designed, but summoned. A place too deliberate to be accidental.
The dormitory rises from the fog like something grown from the island itself. A plaque at its entrance reads:
Entered by invitation. Never by accident. 1922.
The air thickens. And before any of them reach for it — The door opens.
