NUEVA LA

NUEVA LA
By Byron Olson

GENRE: Action, Drama
LOGLINE:

Two restless young men enlist the object of their desire, a romantic girl from their English Language class, to help them commit a robbery... in her own home!

SYNOPSIS:

Nueva LA is not pretty crooners dancing in front of fake Technicolor backdrops, this is the City of Angels viewed from the gutter surrounded by the filth, grime, and garbage of millions who struggle to make ends meet while dreaming of making it big in a town built on fantasy. Los Angeles is a melting pot of people from vastly different cultures and economic classes, except the people ain’t melting.

The "haves" of Los Angeles curate manufactured existences in gated communities with ocean views or hilltop elevation. In the sprawl of the Los Angeles Basin the "have nots" deal with the constant traffic and labor from day to day just getting by, this is where we find ARTURO and FRANCISCO who meet the beautiful and whimsical ODILE in their English Language class. In the environment where you are either predator or prey ARTURO is always looking for an angle to get ahead. FRANCISCO discovers the Hollywood Hills Estate where ODILE is staying has a huge stash of cash. ARTURO sees this as an opportunity and hatches a plan to take it. Both ARTURO and FRANCISCO desire ODILE. ODILE is confused about what to do and enjoys spending time with both of the boys until she unwittingly becomes part of their scheme of greed.

Nueva LA is a re-envisioning of Jean-Luc Godard’s French New Wave classic “Band Of Outsiders” set in modern Los Angeles filmed in Spanish. Like the original French New Wave cinema movement LA has been transformed at street level by guerrilla filmmakers with hand sized 4K HD cameras and digital desk top editing. Welcome to the New LA.
