Imagine the worst job at the worst airport with the worst record of violations. That means dream job for Jessica Coffey.
SYNOPSIS:
Hapless but aspiring JESSICA COFFEY would like to climb the ladder with the Transportation Safety Administration. She is appointed mid-level manager of the TSA’s worst post – Bakersfield International Airport. Her mission: turn the airport, with the worst record for safety and security in the nation, around. Jessica is put in charge of a less-than-enthusiastic team who are burned out from the daily grind of unhappy passengers and lack of leadership from a near-retirement boss who is mentally out-to-pasture. Rounding out her rag tag team are a tea-party zealot, a refugee with the worst English imaginable, and a screener with almost psychic ability to find contraband.
In the pilot episode, Jessica arrives at the airport and inadvertently triggers a lockdown. She is then subjected to a body search prompted by a feminine hygiene product. No sooner is that resolved, and Jessica moved into her new office, when a sunglass-wearing dead body is discovered in line. Not wanting to trigger another lockdown, the staff hatches an innovative means of relocating the body out of the airport. A comedy of errors results in the body being boarded for a flight to Miami. As Jessica later reflects on her event-filled first day, the screener informs her that this was actually a slow day.
