After clashing with the school’s power-hungry PTA president, Dave reluctantly joins the committee—only to find himself trapped into running the school’s disastrous theatre production while trying to keep a humiliating secret about Lizzy’s dad from blowing up at home.
SYNOPSIS:
Still trying to rebuild his life after being blackballed from Hollywood, Dave Sloane finds himself pulled into suburban chaos when his ongoing feud with PTA president Joanne Simmons lands him on the school committee. What starts as a petty clash quickly backfires when Joanne traps Dave into running the school’s annual theatre production — a chaotic fundraiser he now has to deliver.
Meanwhile, Dave is secretly sitting on a problem of his own. Lizzy’s father has started dating again, and Dave is the only one who knows the awkward truth about who the woman really is. As Dave tries to juggle family life, PTA politics, and the possibility of helping his old friend Alan get a film into production, the situation spirals into a series of increasingly ridiculous complications.
By the end of the day, Dave finds himself responsible for a school play he never wanted, caught in the middle of family drama, and wondering how a simple attempt to stay out of trouble somehow made everything worse.
