A sharp-tongued former screenwriter trying to rebuild his life after cancer and career ruin finds himself pulled into suburban PTA warfare — while an unexpected second chance at filmmaking threatens to destroy the fragile life he’s finally built.
SYNOPSIS:
Five years after beating cancer and a decade after being blackballed from Hollywood, Dave Sloane is trying to settle into suburban family life — writing jokes for a local radio show, raising his son, and pretending he’s made peace with the career he lost.
Then one disastrous day blows everything open.
After a vape-fuelled confrontation with nightmare PTA president Joanne Simmons gets him banned from school grounds, Dave unexpectedly reconnects with Alan Greene — an old filmmaking friend now building an indie production company. At the exact moment Dave starts considering a return to writing, the powerful producer who destroyed his career is arrested live on television.
By the end of the episode, Dave makes two impulsive decisions: return to filmmaking and wage war on the PTA from the inside.
Not out of virtue. Out of spite. And maybe a little hope.
