Dave Sloane, once blackballed from Hollywood for refusing a predator’s deal, is now five years cancer-free and writing throwaway gags for public radio. But one bad day—complete with a PTA ban, a run-in with an old film friend, and news of his abuser’s arrest—might just change everything.
SYNOPSIS:
It’s been five years since Dave Sloane beat cancer—and ten years since he was blackballed from Hollywood for refusing an indecent proposal from a powerful producer. Now a burnt-out father writing throwaway gags for a public radio show, Dave finds himself spiraling through one long, weird day.
First, he’s banned from school grounds after a PTA feud with a vape-huffing mum named Joanne. Then, a random run-in with Alan, a former film school friend turned producer, offers him a possible return to writing. And finally, Dave watches the very man who wrecked his career get arrested on live TV.
As his past catches up with him, his future starts calling—and by the end of the episode, Dave’s not just considering the writing gig. He’s decided to run for PTA, reclaiming his voice where it matters most: family, community, and the last place anyone wants him.
