A distant scream from deep in the woods draws a hermit, suffering from an aggressive form of hyperacusis, out of her isolation. 

SYNOPSIS:

The survivor of a violent sexual assault navigates a secluded, hermit-like existence after the attack leaves her suffering from hyperacusis - a painfully sensitive hearing disorder.

Restricting her life to an isolated cabin in the woods, the survivor regularly withstands bouts of panic and intense PTSD, seeing her attacker in the shadows and faces of the nearby townsfolk when she ventures out for supplies.

But a distant, persistent scream shatters her isolation. Its nature reminds the survivor of her own cries that fell on deaf ears during her attack.

She takes this scream as a call to action to save another potential victim and face down the ghosts that plague her every waking moment.

HER DEAFENING SILENCE is TAXI DRIVER meets HIGH TENSION - a taut character study drenched in horror and blood that examines a very real social issue through genre.

HER DEAFENING SILENCE was a runner-up in the July 2020 Sundance Collab Monthly Challenge. It is currently being adapted into a feature length screenplay of the same title.
