SYNOPSIS:

When Flavian Bennett's girlfriend Helena dies in a car accident which he feels partly responsible for, he moves to a new city in an attempt to escape the pain and guilt he feels. Soon after he arrives he meets Candy Smith, a woman who bears a striking resemblance to Helena. Candy solicits Flavian's help in spying on Reginald Hopper, an ominous older man whose past is somehow intertwined with Candy's. Hopper's obsessed with finding a rare book called The Dark Return of Time, which is rumored to have a strange power, and he's willing to do anything to acquire it. Due to his attraction to her, and his desire to redeem himself over his failure to prevent Helena's death, Flavian agrees to help Candy. When she goes missing, Flavian determines to find her and to bring Hopper to justice.
