A cartoonist chooses a corporate career over her talents after her father dies only for the cartoon characters she created to infiltrate her real life.

SYNOPSIS:

Just one year ago, Anne Riley was in Los Angeles pursuing a career as a cartoonist and animator. Her father, famous comic book artist Lou Riley, fueled her financially, hoping to give her a distraction-free and stable life; something he and his wife Ruth Anne didn’t have in their early days. Only burdened by rejection, for Anne, it was a perfectly drawn life. That is until it all came crashing down when she was the last to find out that her father was gravely ill and broke. Now back in her hometown of Brooklyn, she has taken in her mother suffering from dementia and a job in a marketing firm that utilizes none of her artistic talents, both very much against her old brother’s wishes. Andrew’s talents are rooted in reliability and structure making him an excellent literary manager, always able to keep his creative clients busy and paid. He can’t stand his sister’s change of direction, and needing to keep his father’s legacy alive, if only for himself, has her western comics published in a major magazine behind her back. This forces Anne to have a foot in both worlds, and having to face the realization that her talent may have been an excuse to live a life out someone else’s dream.
