ETERNAL LIFE
By Lyndon McGill

GENRE: Action, Adventure
LOGLINE:

With his adolescent son dying of cancer, a desperate father travels to the jungles of Peru and battles drug smugglers and the Devil himself to bring back a powerful medicine found only in a fruit growing on El Arbol de la Vida, The Tree of Life. (Think: a faith-based "Indiana Jones")

SYNOPSIS:

Lying comatose in the hospital, 7-year-old Campbell Shaw is dying of leukemia. With modern medicine failing to provide a cure, his parents, Lance and Amy, have reached the end of their emotional ropes, their marriage is unraveling and their faith in God is dwindling.

Then, late one night while sitting with Campbell at the hospital, Lance meets Maria, a janitorial worker, who tells him about a wonder drug found in a grape-like fruit growing on El Arbol de la Vida, the Tree of Life, a solitary tree hidden deep in the jungle of her native Peru. Desperate to save his son, Lance, against his wife's wishes, convinces Maria to take him to the Amazon where she ultimately persuades her grandfather, an Indian tribal leader, to guide them to the Tree of Life. But a crescendo of obstacles, including an encounter with cocaine smugglers and a battle with El Diablo--the Devil himself in the form of a giant boa constrictor that safeguards the tree--renders the mission nearly impossible.

Finally, with the help of God and some jungle "tricks" courtesy of Maria's grandfather, they outwit El Diablo and obtain the fruit. But the return trip is not without incident, and when Maria gets shot by drug smugglers, they have to use most of the precious medicine to keep her alive. And with Amy back home signing papers to end Campbell's life support, time is quickly running out.
