A daughter confronts her estranged father as a racist, unable to overcome a shared tragedy, bringing the Asian son-in-law he's never accepted, and granddaughter he's never known, as eclectic mountain man who plays Santa gives sage advice.
SYNOPSIS:
The old man’s multigenerational lumber business is failing as his daughter, granddaughter, and Chinese husband show up unexpectedly just before Christmas. The old man and his daughter share a tragic incident that they have not been able to address. A mountain man, who comes out of the woods once a year and works to buy gifts for kids as he plays Santa for the town, gives sage advice. The father and daughter can forgive each other, but can they forgive themselves? The granddaughter, upset by their struggle, gets advice from the mountain man Santa which helps her understand love. The old man's Chinese son-in-law helps navigate difficult times with the failing business and put off the greedy competitors who want to help shut him down.
Paying homage to It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, and Christmas Story, Sleeping With Bears message of hope, reconciliation, and acceptance of diversity, shines bright.
