CRAWL meets KNIVES OUT

SYNOPSIS:

When a pharmaceutical transport truck crashes in the forest outside Shady Oaks Retirement Community, it releases more than just cargo—it unleashes "8," a genetically engineered spider that grows larger with each meal. As construction crews destroy the surrounding woodland, the displaced creature seeks refuge in the only safe haven it can find: the retirement home where Lana Torres works as a devoted caregiver.

Lana Torres, a young Hispanic woman in her twenties, has dedicated her life to caring for the elderly residents of Shady Oaks, as well as her own grandmother, who resides there. Her dream of attending nursing school seems within reach when the facility's owner, Mr. Oaks—a father figure and mentor—gives her money for her education. But when Mr. Oaks dies unexpectedly from cancer, Lana inherits the struggling property and finds herself at the center of a heated battle with land developers and Mr. Oaks' greedy family members who want to sell.

Refusing to abandon the seniors who depend on her, Lana rejects the lucrative development offer and chooses to keep Shady Oaks running despite mounting pressures. Her decision draws the attention of Harry Oaks, Mr. Oaks' charming grandson, who arrives offering help with seemingly good intentions. However, Jake, the facility's security guard who harbors feelings for Lana, grows suspicious of Harry's true motives.

As 8 settles into its new territory within Shady Oaks, the facility's infrastructure begins to mysteriously fail. Air conditioning units break down in sweltering heat, food spoils, security systems malfunction, and residents start falling ill. While Lana initially attributes these problems to the building's age and her limited resources, a more sinister pattern begins to emerge. Strange accidents plague the facility, and Jake grows increasingly suspicious that these aren't coincidences.

The mystery deepens as Lana finds herself caught between trusting Harry's helpful demeanor and Jake's growing warnings about inconsistencies in Harry's story. Is the charming grandson truly trying to help, or is there something darker behind his sudden appearance? As residents continue to suffer from the mysterious malfunctions and 8 begins its deadly hunt through the retirement home, Lana must uncover the truth about who—or what—is the real threat to Shady Oaks.
