LOGLINE:

A haunted yet determined landscaper, desperate to outrun guilt over her brother’s death, takes a job restoring the gardens of a restored 1830s Southern plantation—only to uncover a buried child’s coffin, a ghost that watches her every move, and a history that refuses to stay in the ground. SYNOPSIS:

Maggie is a skilled floral landscaper who accepts a contract restoring the grounds of an 1833 Georgia plantation. Still carrying the guilt of her brother’s recent death—a loss she believes she could have prevented—she throws herself into the project, determined to finish the job. But as she reclaims the tangled grounds, Maggie begins to see signs that something else is surfacing too.

Unsettling artifacts, a sunken grave, and shadowy figures begin to appear around the estate. She questions whether the images are real or symptoms of her PTSD. The deeper she digs—literally and emotionally—the more the history of the land begins to rise, intertwining with her own unraveling sense of reality. What begins as a job to restore beauty becomes a reckoning with what can’t be buried.

'Property' is a haunting Southern Gothic horror that explores grief, guilt, and the ghosts we inherit—set against the eerie elegance of a plantation whose past demands to be seen.

Kelly Ryan This is a beautifully layered logline that blends atmospheric horror with emotional depth. The choice between a literal haunting and a psychological manifestation of guilt is especially compelling and positions the story to explore grief, trauma, and reckoning with the past. To tighten it slightly, you might condense a phrase or two for clarity, but overall, this is cinematic, character-driven, and emotionally rich.
