SYNOPSIS:
Elias Kern has spent decades maintaining the integrity of a government archive that quietly determines who exists and who disappears. When he discovers that twelve-year-old witness Lina Ash has been marked for permanent disappearance, he commits the one crime he never thought possible: he falsifies her death record to save her life. With only hours before the deception is uncovered, Elias becomes the target of the surveillance state he helped build. Forced to flee with Lina through hidden corridors, forgotten records, and the shadows of a city where identity is controlled by official documentation, he must stay one step ahead of a system determined to erase them both. As the hunt intensifies, Elias discovers that saving Lina will cost him everything—his career, his identity, and ultimately his place in the world. But if he succeeds, he may expose a truth powerful enough to challenge the Archive itself and prove that a human life is worth more than any record. THE RECORD OF ASH is a near-future thriller about identity, sacrifice, and the courage to defy a system that values order over humanity.
