SYNOPSIS:

Six year old triplet girls: Rose, Megan and Emily Adler play in their back yard when Rose gets stuck by a thorn. Janet, their mother, rushes to her aid and comforts her. She tells the girls black roses hurt the most, red roses only sting a little. Unfortunately Janet doesn’t know her girls are being watched. As Janet enters the house it triggers a predator’s plan of abduction. From out of the bushes he appears and seizes Rose while Emily and Megan scatter. An exhaustive search turns up nothing and finally Rose is given up for dead. A quick shot of a trunk being opened and Rose is restrained with ropes and a gag, her eyes swollen as a man looms over her. Megan graduates the police academy and Emily earns a degree in journalism. The sisters team up to work on bizarre murder cases and conclude a serial killer is at large. One suspect - an incarcerated woman, MARIA VILLA, sits in shadow reading the front page which highlights pictures of the mayor’s twins – Emily and Megan. However the murders continue. One night while Emily sleeps she is awakened by a mysterious phone call that convinces Emily that the murders are related to Rose’s disappearance. Emily has a redemption issue and feels guilty about leaving Rose behind to be kidnapped so Megan thinks this is another one of Emily’s issues and plays along. Time moves forward clues are left by this unique serial killer who appears to be using different M.O.’s. Each is linked by a black rose left at each murder scene. These particular black roses are only grown on the Mexican estate of Joseph Villa, a drug lord, who had been indicted on drug, porn and murder charges in the past. Emily cannot shake the feeling Rose is still alive and her seizure might be related to pornography. Posing as Megan, she scrutinizes porn rings on police computers until she finally captures a picture of Rose (a mirror image of herself) staring back. Emily convinces Megan to go with her once to a porn shop dressed as hookers looking to score a gig in an illegal porn movie. The two uncover more clues that end up being useless at the time. Megan continues to question Emily as to why she can’t let go of Rose and pleads with her to do so. Megan suspects Emily is hiding something. She poses as Emily and uncovers more evidence. In a reversal, she never tells Emily. Instead this ‘evidence’ suddenly disappears. The sisters decide to question Maria. Emily believes Maria’s lying or was forced to confess. She convinces Megan to let her leak a false story that Maria’s escaped prison to enable Emily to go undercover in the crime world pretending to be Maria. Emily is right. Maria’s confession was false and one of Maria’s connections, a man named CHICO appears to be the killer. When Emily realizes the evidence against Chico was taken from her…it could only mean on thing – Megan’s the killer. Emily realizes that is why Megan wanted her to leave Rose’s case alone – so her identity as the killer wouldn’t be revealed. Meanwhile Maria Villa is found to be their sister Rose. Her name was changed and instead of being part of the drug, porn ring, Joseph Villa raised her as his daughter. In a wicked twist, it’s Emily vs. Megan. Megan never got over the kidnapping – she internalized it. She became a cop, learned crime so she could get away with it. Emily is forced to kill her own sister Megan. After the funeral Emily and Rose stay behind looking down on Megan’s grave. Emily finally forgave herself, saved Rose, but at the cost of losing Megan.
