LEPER KHAN is a romantic action/fantasy feature re-imagining Irish mythology about a Celtic prince banished to our world who must choose between the woman he loves and defending the clan that turned its back on him.
SYNOPSIS:
Leper Khan is a bold re-imagining of Celtic myths and Irish legends.
It’s the story of the young warrior prince Cuchulain (pronounced koo-kull-in) the Khan, heir to the throne of the Clan Khan, one of the last surviving tribes of Celtic warriors.
The Clan Khan live in a magical alternate medieval dimension, a dimension that takes up the same physical time and space as our world. The ancient Druids have made them custodians of the Dragon’s Breath, a sacred gold chalice, which gives them the ability to move freely between their world and ours. The Druids only command- don’t interact with humans.
Cuchulain, eldest and favorite son of Lugh the Khan, the clan’s king, is first in line to rule the Khan. He has no interest in ruling, but instead, is fascinated by our modern world and becomes infatuated with a beautiful American archeologist, Maggie Rowe. His younger brother, Angus, is jealous of Cuchulain and secretly desires to rule himself.
While Cuchulain is in our world, the Clurichaun, enemies of the Khan, attack, stealing their cattle and killing a small boy. Lugh is furious Cuchulain wasn’t there to help defend his people.
Angus betrays his brother’s trust, forcing Khan Lugh to banish Cuchulain from the clan. So he takes refuge here, here in our world.
Meanwhile, Angus makes a secret pact with Mealladh, the king of the Clurichauns, to solidify power by killing Lugh and Cuchulain. Angus steals the Dragon’s Breath for Mealladh. The Clurichauns, now able to travel between both worlds, attack Cuchulain in our world and ambush the Khan in their own world.
Cuchulain foils the raid, but the Khan fall to Mealladh and Angus kills his father.
Unaware of his clan’s betrayal, Cuchulain and Maggie’s relationship deepens romantically. Ashamed of lying about who he really is, Cuchulain reveals his true identity to her. She thinks he’s mad; outraged he’s lied and deceived her.
Mealladh still fears Cuchulain and sends his Clurichauns to our world where they plunder the Irish countryside and kidnap and beat Maggie to try and lure him out.
Near death, Cuchulain finds Maggie and rushes her to the hospital, but she slips into coma. Desperate to save her, Cuchulain travels home to his Clan for medicine, only to find the clan near ruin and his kinsmen either dead or in hiding.
He brings a powerful Druid herbal medicine back to Maggie, nurses her out of her coma and returns home. Vowing to avenge his people, he raises a small army of kinsmen to battle the Clurichaun.
Vastly outnumbered, he devises a plan to fight simultaneously in both worlds: the medieval forests of the Clans and the modern streets of Dundalk, Ireland. There’s an epic battle. Warriors dart in and out of the two dimensions like game pieces on a multi-level chess set.
Cuchulain kills Mealladh, takes back the Dragon’s Heart, but victory is illusive when Angus kidnaps Maggie away from our world and draws Cuchulain into a duel. There is a grueling sword fight- brother against brother.
Cuchulain wins, but the price of victory is steep. He must take his rightful place as Khan, but promise to not return to world of humans. Before he makes that vow, he returns to say good-bye to Maggie.
Now a believer, Maggie yearns for her lover. But Cuchulain cannot live in her world so he offers his to her. She can travel to his world only if she drinks from the Dragon’s Heart. She must decide her fate; her lover or the only world she’s ever known. She takes the Dragon’s Heart and drinks from it.
The Dragon’s Heart returned, the Clurichaun defeated, Cuchulain is named Khan and takes Maggie to be his queen.
