ON MY COUNT
By Jay Oellrich

GENRE: Romance, Drama
LOGLINE:

Hoping a pill will finally cure the constant exhaustion of her newly
diagnosed AuDHD and allow her to live a normal life, a determined woman
in her mid-30s discovers that medication can’t fix everything and must
learn to accept her limits in a world that never stops moving.

SYNOPSIS:

Imogen is used to living at a different rhythm than the rest of the

world. Even simple days can drain her, and the constant exhaustion of

her AuDHD makes it difficult to keep up with expectations that seem

effortless for everyone else. When she finally receives a diagnosis and

starts medication, she believes things will change.

Over the following weeks, she notices subtle shifts in her chaotic

mind—enough to inspire her to take action. She signs up for dance

classes with her best friend James, whose patience and insight help her

navigate the world, and begins testing the limits of her energy,

independence, and relationships. Imogen connects with others, fills her

days with new experiences, and discovers parts of herself she never

knew.

A fellow dancer’s uncle, Cal, introduces her to a life of adrenaline and

adventure. Motorcycle rides, all-night escapades, and thrilling

experiences show Imogen a world beyond routine, challenging her

boundaries and forcing her to confront what she truly wants—and what she

can realistically handle.

Though her medication helps in certain ways, it is not a magical fix.

She can manage her energy a little better, but she still cannot keep up

with the people around her. Her mind and body demand rest, leading to

the end of a brief fling with Cal and a familiar, draining burnout

cycle.

With James’s support, she learns that she may never be normal, and that

this is, in fact, a blessing. She must accept that some things cannot be

forced, yet she discovers ways to embrace life on her own

terms—choosing which risks, joys, and challenges are worth pursuing, and

learning to live fully within the rhythm that is uniquely hers.
