NEVER BEEN YOURS
By Jay Oellrich

GENRE: Romance, Drama
LOGLINE:

After a car accident kills one identical twin, the survivor is
misidentified as his brother and falls into his life and marriage, until
returning memories force him to choose between honesty and a love built
on a lie.

SYNOPSIS:

After a serious car accident involving identical twins, only one brother

survives and wakes up with diagnosed amnesia. With no memory, he

returns home to a life he barely recognizes—a marriage and a routine

that feel more unfamiliar than comforting.

As he recovers, the changes in him become increasingly noticeable. His

tastes, habits, and emotional responses no longer match what his wife

and family expect. While everyone attributes the differences to trauma

and memory loss, the tension in his marriage grows, and the sense that

something is fundamentally wrong becomes harder to ignore.

When fragments of his memory begin to return, the truth finally becomes

clear: he is not the twin everyone believes him to be. He survived the

accident, unknowingly living his brother’s life. Confronted with the

reality of his identity, he is forced to face the consequences of having

taken his brother’s place, including a marriage that was never meant to

be his.

The truth comes out, shattering the fragile stability that had formed

after he became comfortable knowing who he really is. His wife,

devastated by the revelation, leaves, unable to reconcile love, grief,

and betrayal. The surviving twin ultimately leaves as well, returning to

the life he had abandoned, while she is left to mourn her husband a

second time and rebuild her life alone.

Months later, circumstances bring them back into the same space. The

past cannot be undone, and nothing can return to what it was. Yet the

film ends with an open moment, leaving the question of whether

connection is still possible and what form it might take.
