When a heart broken man who has shut himself off from the world unknowingly falls for a famous pop star hiding out in the mountains, their brief romance collapses under the weight of her secret forcing him to embark on a desperate sprint across LA to reclaim the woman who gave him his heart back.
SYNOPSIS:
Jeremy is a grounded, hardworking man from Huntington who has completely shut himself off from the world. Shell shocked from a painful, devastating breakup and weighed down by built-up walls, he’s spent years just going through the motions. Desperate to escape the noise and clear his head, he packs up his truck and heads up to a quiet cabin in the mountains of Big Bear.
At the exact same time, global pop sensation Zoe St. Clair is reaching her own breaking point. Burned out by the corporate music machine, hounded by paparazzi, and coming off a string of tabloids, she flees LA for a neighboring cabin under her real name: Charlie.
When their paths cross in the quiet pine woods, there are no red carpets or stage lights. Jeremy has no idea who she is to him, she’s just a funny, down to earth girl running from her own chaos. Free from the expectations of her fame, Charlie falls for Jeremy's quiet strength, while Jeremy feels his frozen heart start to thaw for the first time in years. Over four magical, sun drenched days, they share quiet moments on the porch swing, belly laughs, and a undeniable connection.
But their bubble shatters when paparazzi ambushes the property. As fleet black SUVs pull up and publicists swarm, Jeremy learns the truth about who "Charlie" really is. Feeling betrayed, heartbroken, and foolish, Jeremy walks away, letting her be whisked back to her world. Charlie leaves a piece of her heart behind on the mountain, while Jeremy returns to Huntington, empty and defeated.
Back home, Jeremy tries to slip back into his old life, but his adult kids Ethan (22), Ella (22), and Scarlett (18) refuse to let him give up. They knock sense into him, pointing out that "Zoe St. Clair" was just a stage name, but the girl who gave him his heart back was entirely real. When they show him a promo revealing that Zoe is performing live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in LA that very night, Jeremy snaps out of his daze.
With less than two hours before airtime, Jeremy launches into a desperate, high-speed race down the 405 highway, swerving through brutal LA traffic while his buddy Brian pulls strings to get him a last-minute VIP seat.
Jeremy slips into the studio crowd just as Zoe takes the stage. Instead of her glossy pop hit, she performs a raw, haunting acoustic ballad she wrote about the cabin and the man who truly saw her. During the live interview, Jimmy Fallon asks about the mysterious mountain guy from the tabloids. On live national television, a tearful Zoe confesses that she fell completely in love with him, lost her heart, and regrets not being honest.
From the third row, Jeremy stands up in front of the live audience and cameras: "Do you really mean that?"
As security steps in, Fallon realizes history is happening and orders them to back off. Jeremy tells Charlie he doesn't care about the fame or the noise he just wants the girl from the cabin. Overcome, Charlie jumps off the five foot stage and tackles him in the aisle, pulling him into a passionate kiss on live TV as the studio audience erupts.
SIX MONTHS LATER
At a major music awards show, Zoe wins Song of the Year for her acoustic track, dedicating the award on stage to Jeremy before jumping into his arms backstage.
The story closes with the ultimate family reunion back in Big Bear. Jeremy, Charlie, his kids, his brother Brandon and his family, his close friends, his mom, his dad, and Zoe’s inner circle all gather at a sprawling lodge. The yard is alive with laughter, pool games, barbecuing, and Petey the dog launching into the water. Free from her pop star mask, Charlie is entirely at peace.
As the sun sets, Jeremy leads Charlie to the porch of the original cabin. Standing in the quiet pines, he finally pulls out a box to ask the question but before he can even finish, Charlie tackles him to the deck, shouting "Yes!" in a chaotic, beautiful mess of laughter and kisses as he slides the ring onto her finger, surrounded by the loud, loving family they built together.
