SYNOPSIS:
Set against a backdrop of stark poverty, "The Lagging Steps" follows Delo, a 10-year-old boy whose daily life is defined by deprivation. While his mother struggles relentlessly with labor, Delo quietly endures the hardship of walking to school in worn-out, gaping shoes. Determined to change his reality, he meticulously saves every single coin into a rusted tin can. After days of strict sacrifice, the tin fills to the brim, allowing him to finally purchase a pair of new shoes. For a brief, shining moment, he feels a sense of normalcy and joy among his peers. However, this fragile happiness is brutally tested when a sudden torrential downpour transforms his triumphant stride into a stark confrontation with an unforgiving world
