THE LOST ONES

THE LOST ONES
By Tellie Elise Burke

GENRE: Science Fiction, Animation
LOGLINE: On planet Ananta, a global pandemic has been raging for 15 years. Cold symptoms acted as a trojan horse for the illness that slowly, insidiously rewrites its host from the inside. Fully progressed, they turn to madness and become driven to infect. The City of Archil, three concentric stone walls that protect the richest of the bourgeois in the center, deals with this illness by throwing all who even show symptoms to the desert outside the city walls. In this city is where we find our unusual protagonist and its unlikely companion. Window and Phillium were from different worlds. Window grew up in the slums, and Phillium grew up isolated in an uppercrust household. They meet when Oculus, an infamous druglord, sweet-talks Phillium into coming home with him, where Window resides. This turns Window’s life as it knew it on its head, and leads to the death of its best friend, Nexus. After her loss, Oculus becomes deeply abusive, and Phillium and Window start to find comfort in each other. The abuse escalates until Oculus attempts to kill Phillium, and Window escapes with them outside of the city. As the gates close, two discover a world unknown that they are anything but prepared for: one that’s sweaty, dangerous, and filled to the brim with secrets that will change the course of their future.

SYNOPSIS:

This is an Animated Sci-Fantasy Horror-Thriller centered around a global pandemic, and two people who need someone to care about them, that find that in each other through adverse circumstances. The story begins with the lead up to their escape (pilot/first 2 episodes), and the main plotline for the season is finding their way through a desert littered with monsters, all while navigating their losses and the personal grief they feel about having left the city permanently (spans another 6 episodes). By the end of the season, they are saved from dying of exposure by a nomadic commune after weeks of wandering the desert. Living amongst them leads to them finding out that Window isn't what it thought it was, and gives Window renewed purpose: It needs to find out where it came from, and why it can't remember anything from before 10 years old. (1 long episode, season finale) The secrets surrounding those answers would change the course of Window's future, which will be expanded upon if I am approved for a second season!
