JO: A LIFE BETWEEN TIDES
By Charles Stefania

GENRE: Mystery, Drama
LOGLINE:

When three strangers fleeing their old lives wash up in an unmapped harbor town governed by tide, trade, and a mysterious little factory that hums like a heartbeat, they must decide — one slow day at a time — whether to keep running, or finally let themselves arrive.

SYNOPSIS:

Three strangers — Cal, Mira, and Noa — arrive by accident in Tidewell, an unmapped harbor town that runs on tide instead of time. Jo, a quiet elder, offers hospitality without explanation, and attempts to leave fail in small, uncanny ways: a grounded ferry, a road that loops back on itself. Across ten episodes the three integrate — through work at the town's ambiguous little factory, meals at the communal Long Table, and small acts of trust that ask nothing in return. Each sheds a piece of their old identity, not by force but by increasingly wanting to. Season One closes as it opened — four figures on the shoreline at dawn — except now there are four, not one, and the newcomers are no longer strangers.

Season Two picks up years later: Marcus, a man in his forties whose outside life is quietly collapsing, finds an old photograph of himself as a young man standing beside a much younger Jo — and becomes consumed with finding a town no map, no search, and no record can confirm exists. The season alternates between Marcus's outside-world search and Tidewell's own quiet reckoning, as Jo visibly tires and Cal begins, without either naming it, to take on Jo's role. It builds to the reveal that Marcus once lived in Tidewell himself, as a young man Jo mentored and lost — and that the road only opens for those who leave something behind on purpose, not by accident. The finale reunites them at the shoreline at dawn, five figures now, quietly passing the town's rhythm from Jo to the next generation.
