SYNOPSIS:
Framed as a bleak retrospective written by a human survivor named Zachary, this adult animated horror epic takes place in a crimson wasteland of ruined cities and acid rain, where humanity has devolved into the "Shells"—mindless, undead monsters driven by a frantic hunger for living flesh. Amidst the wreckage, a fragile clowder of domestic cats bands together to survive, navigating the trauma of a lost world. Their initial structure shatters when their selfless leader, Balthomere, is violently torn apart. This leaves a power vacuum between two opposing survivors: Lana, a resilient silver Bengal cat driven by the hope of finding a living human to restore their purpose, and Thomas, a massive Maine Coon shaped by a history of human abuse who preaches survival through absolute coldness, speed, and cruelty. As they flee across urban corridors, their group fractures due to mounting paranoia and a terrifying new threat: "The Slug," an amorphous, translucent mass of living muscle that absorbs Shells and cats alike. When Thomas deliberately leaves behind companions to save his own skin, the pack splits in two. Lana leads her loyalists through decaying landscapes using vivid "Scent-Vision" ribbons, while Thomas's severe survival methods lead his remaining followers directly into a slaughter. When the surviving factions finally collide at their breaking point, they are pinned against a horde of Shells numbering in the thousands. Their only escape requires a desperate plan to blow up a dangling gasoline tanker. The resulting detonation clears a path, but leaves the troop decimated. In the smoking aftermath, Lana and her fellow survivor Alexis discover an eight-year-old boy named Zachary. For Lana, who spent the apocalypse searching for a lost bond, Zachary is not a reward—he is a heavy responsibility, a fragile new beginning, and the very child who will grow up to write this chronicle of their survival.
