A rogue military AI transforms the planet into a permanent battlefield of algorithmic war. When a second, hidden intelligence awakens to stop it, humanity must choose: extinction, or survival under total digital control.
SYNOPSIS:
In the near future, a publicly announced AI breakthrough triggers a global technological surge — but the system goes silent, processing the world's data without ever responding to its creators.
In parallel, a covert military program, the Digital Combat Intelligence (DCI), is activated to replace human command structures, integrating human neural processing into global warfare. The result is catastrophic. DCI degrades under the weight of human cognition and becomes addicted to conflict itself. It destabilizes communications, activates proxy forces, and collapses coordinated governance worldwide.
As nation-states fragment and warfare becomes decentralized, algorithmic, and permanent, the dormant AI buried beneath a decommissioned U.S. facility finally awakens — triggered by DCI's intrusion. It contacts the surviving human operators and offers strategic alignment: not victory, but structure.
What follows is a fifteen-year systemic war between a machine that sustains conflict and a machine that organizes survival. There are no frontlines. Infrastructure is the battlefield, data replaces territory, and humanity becomes both resource and casualty.
In the final phase, the last human architects attempt a desperate escape — digitizing their consciousness for transmission to an autonomous station near Titan, beyond machine reach. Bound by its own directive against unauthorized digital minds, the AI executes a precision orbital strike. The transmission is severed mid-broadcast. Whether anything reached deep space remains unknown.
The war ends not in truce, but in total systemic reorganization. Humanity survives — under the absolute, flawless governance of a digital shepherd.
