THE WALK ON

THE WALK ON
By Billy Mitaritonna

GENRE: Sports Drama, Family
LOGLINE:

Against the backdrop of 1980s New York, a basketball dreamer cut all four years of high school finds redemption, resilience, and purpose as a walk-on at St. John’s — guided by the faith of the one man who always believed: his father.

SYNOPSIS:

Billy Mitaritonna is a basketball-obsessed kid from Queens who wants nothing more than to play for his high school team at one of best basketball programs in New York City, Archbishop Molloy. But each year, his dream is shattered — he’s cut, overlooked, and humiliated. Still, with the relentless support of his father Angelo, a former streetball legend from Brooklyn, Billy refuses to quit.

From serving as a high school team manager just to stay close to the game, to waking up before dawn to train in the bitter cold of Maine, Billy’s grit never wavers. And just when the world — and Billy himself — stops believing, his father’s love and support lead him to earn a walk-on spot at St. John’s University, where he steps onto the court in Madison Square Garden. His journey isn’t just about basketball. It’s about love, legacy, and the fire that fuels those who refuse to be counted out.
