KINGS DON'T CRY
By Markice Moore

GENRE: Drama, Crime, Music
LOGLINE:

When his younger brother Saint is killed after a CrownHouse booking, recovering former rap star Malik "Krown" Bell comes home to stay sober, protect the family he left behind, and confront the record machine that profited from them.

SYNOPSIS:

Malik "Krown" Bell wakes before dawn in a recovery house with a sobriety chip, unopened envelopes, a Bible, and a CrownHouse Records platinum plaque turned face-down. He was once the artist the crowd chanted for. Now he is trying to stay present one breath at a time. Then the call comes: his younger brother, CrownHouse artist Saint Bell, is dead.

Returning home means stepping into grief, family anger, industry cleanup, and the version of himself everyone still wants to use. His mother Denise needs a son, not a brand. Saint's child needs protection. CrownHouse arrives with family-care language that sounds like containment. An old studio contact suggests Saint was sent into danger after a fake booking the label said was safe. Malik has to investigate without relapsing into the ego, rage, and performance that once made him valuable to the same machine. KINGS DON'T CRY is a music-crime family drama about sobriety, grief, exploitation, and a former star learning that being a king means facing what his crown cost.
