When club worker Zaria Cross sees a terrified girl vanish into a church rescue-home van, Deacon Josiah King must decide whether the demon naming a powerful donor is temptation, truth, or the only lead that can save her.
SYNOPSIS:
New Eden is a city where church power, nightlife money, and rescue-home politics share the same streets. Zaria Cross works at The Velvet Room and sees Nia Reade, a scared young woman wearing an Esther House intake wristband, slip from a private room before men in suits move in. Nia disappears into a church van and sends one warning: do not come to Esther House. Zaria goes anyway.
At Kingdom Life Cathedral, Deacon Josiah King is the polished son of Bishop Solomon King, trained to distrust anything that feels like spiritual disorder. But during service, a black flame bends toward him and a demon's voice names DeAndre Vale, the donor whose money keeps Esther House open. Josiah is told Zaria is a Jezebel pulling women backward, while Zaria sees locked doors, scared staff, and a first lady who knows more than she will say. Their collision becomes a faith-world thriller about missing women, holy language used as control, and whether the truth can arrive through the very darkness the church claims to cast out.
