THE RIFT
By Ruslan Malakhov

GENRE: Fantasy, Drama
LOGLINE:

When ancient rifts begin to tear through the land, four teenagers bound by forgotten magic must confront a rising war between humans and magical beings — unaware that they themselves are destined to become the gods of legend, and that the greatest threat may come from those they trust most.

SYNOPSIS:

THE RIFT is an epic fantasy television series inspired by Slavic mythology and original lore.

In a world where magic quietly coexists with ordinary life, invisible rifts begin to appear, corrupting people, animals, and entire communities. As fear spreads, humanity slowly turns against magic itself.

The story follows four adolescents whose powers awaken too early and too violently. What begins as friendship and survival becomes betrayal, ideology, and sacrifice. Over time, they will be remembered not as people, but as myths — gods whose true stories were erased by history.

The series explores power, memory, fear, and the price of peace, blending intimate character drama with large-scale mythological conflict.

The Slavic mythology inspiration is really cool, and the idea that these characters eventually become the legends themselves gives the story an interesting sense of inevitability.

The logline is good. The premise and stakes are easy to understand, and the “becoming the gods of legend” idea is a great hook. I was just a little curious what their concrete objective becomes once the rifts start appearing? Must they prevent the war from destroying both worlds? Must they stop the rifts from getting bigger or close them even? What is the core engine here?

Thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback — really appreciate it.

The core engine of the series is the gradual uncovering of the truth behind the rifts and the mythology tied to them. Each season pushes the characters closer to understanding why the rifts exist, who benefits from them, and what becoming these “gods of legend” actually costs them on a personal and moral level.

At its heart, the story is about choice: whether they prevent the collapse of both worlds — or reshape them, knowing they may lose their humanity in the process.
