GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a proud, old-school New York father moves to Oklahoma with his 12-year-old son, their unapologetic sense of class collides with pickup trucks, politeness, and a culture that does everything differently — except family.

SYNOPSIS:

NEW YORKLAHOMA is a half-hour, single-camera comedy with heart about dignity, identity, and belonging without assimilation.

When a proud, old-school New York father relocates to Tulsa, Oklahoma with his 12-year-old son, their unapologetic sense of class collides with a culture built on politeness, pickup trucks, and quiet kindness. Tulsa isn’t the joke — the misunderstanding is.

Papa is stubborn, elegant, and completely uninterested in adapting. He believes dignity should be effortless and that real class never announces itself. His refusal to assimilate makes him an outsider — and eventually, a local legend. His son, Tiger, is observant, quick-witted, and emotionally intelligent beyond his years. Caught between Papa’s old-world pride and Tulsa’s gentle expectations, Tiger becomes the translator between two worlds while quietly discovering his own voice.

Each episode runs on a simple but durable comedy engine: Papa’s worldview meets Tulsa’s response, with Tiger navigating the emotional and cultural middle. The humor comes from contrast — sedans versus pickup trucks, directness versus politeness, tradition versus utility — but the heart comes from family. No one is villainized. No one fully changes. Everyone grows.

At its core, NEW YORKLAHOMA is a father-son story about confidence without arrogance, kindness without conformity, and learning that belonging doesn’t require becoming someone else. It’s a warm, character-driven comedy with broad appeal, timeless themes, and breakout character potential — built to scale across seasons while staying grounded in emotional truth.
