A 1980 period puzzle-box deconstruction of noir, thriller and western genres that pits a roguish journalist and a grieving family against a system that brands them fugitives to keep its dark secrets buried. Bonds strengthen and wounds heal, but their high stakes game plan to hunt their hunters backfires in catastrophic fashion causing devastating physical and psychological losses.
