SCIENCE SCHOOL KIDS
By Joacilia Mbungu

GENRE: Science Fiction, Mystery
LOGLINE: At an elite academy, a group of students discovers a mysterious watch that attracts supernatural robots, uncovering hidden secrets beneath their school built by a scientist in the shadows, while a girl whose life is tied to the system’s instability holds the key to a truth they must uncover before the school year ends.

SYNOPSIS:

At Arden Academy, an elite boarding school for highly gifted students, success is promised to those who attend, but the school is not as perfect as it appears. That illusion breaks when a group of students, Mora, Druce, Lirana, Anastasia, and Ace, are secretly attacked by a robot with supernatural abilities. When their mysterious watch begins attracting more of these robots, the group is forced into secrecy, balancing normal school life with investigating the watch and the reason behind the attacks. When the students discover a possible way to stop the robots, they attempt to destroy the watch. They fail partially and are exposed to the watch’s serum system, causing them to develop unstable abilities. Eli stands at the center of the mystery, already affected by the system in a far more advanced way and possessing supernatural abilities of her own. She becomes both a warning and a key source of truth about the academy and the scientist behind it. As the students begin to experience their own changes, they realize their powers are not separate from the system but a consequence of it. Their abilities grow unstable, and they start to show mechanical traits similar to Eli’s condition. This forces them to question what remains human about themselves. As they uncover more, they realize they are heading toward the same fate as Eli if they do not understand the full truth behind the watch and the system it belongs to. They are forced into a race against time to uncover the origin of the system before the end of the school year or risk losing themselves completely.

This is a fun and engaging concept with strong young-adult appeal the mix of a mysterious object, hidden experiments, and a group dynamic works really well.

The logline has interesting elements, but it feels a bit long and could be tightened to highlight the central conflict and stakes more clearly.

The synopsis sets up the world and characters nicely, though focusing more on a clear narrative drive and raising the stakes further could make it more impactful.

Overall, it has solid potential as a sci-fi mystery with a strong ensemble focus.
