Cowardly murdered by a vicious mob, a community leader returns from the dead, blessed by Yemanjá and imbued with the powers of Xangô, to make justice.
SYNOPSIS:
In the heart of a coastal community, where the rhythm of the ocean’s waves sets the tone for life’s ebb and flow, the story of Getúlio unfolds. Born into a world of mystery, tragedy strikes from the very moment of his birth as he loses his parents to the enigmatic depths of the sea. Raised by his wise grandmother, Dona Maria, Getúlio grows up immersed in the rich tapestry of her tales, each one weaving a narrative of Yemanjá, the ethereal goddess of the waters, and the enigmatic orixás. While Getúlio finds solace in these stories, he remains somewhat skeptical of the beliefs that surround him. Dona Maria sees in him the tempestuous characteristics and the beauty of Yemanjá’s most powerful son, Xangô, the orixá of justice, thunder, lightning, and fire.
Years pass, and Getúlio, now known as Tutu within his community, emerges as a passionate lawyer. He champions the cause of the downtrodden, relentlessly battling the nefarious forces of militias, drug lords, corrupt police, and extortionists who prey on the vulnerable. But fate takes a cruel turn one fateful day. Tutu, in a valiant attempt to thwart corrupt police officers from executing a desperate young boy, becomes their victim instead. Cast into the unforgiving sea, his life appears to meet its tragic end.
Yet, beneath the ocean’s surface, a divine intervention occurs. Yemanjá herself cradles Tutu in her watery embrace, recognizing in him the essence of her own son, Xangô. With a gentle touch, she breathes life back into his mortal form. Tutu awakens on a storm-ravaged beach, disoriented and bewildered, questioning the boundary between dream and reality. As he navigates this newfound existence, he discovers extraordinary abilities that defy comprehension.
Returning to his community, Tutu assumes a mysterious mantle, dispensing justice silently and vigilantly. The legend of the enigmatic avenger quickly spreads, sending shivers down the spines of wrongdoers. Xangô, the harbinger of justice, is on the horizon. However, the path of righteousness is fraught with peril, even for Xangô. His adversaries, cunning and relentless, exploit his vulnerabilities—his unease around cemeteries, hospitals, and their inhabitants.
United by their malevolence, these wrongdoers orchestrate a confrontation that unfolds in the dimly lit morgue of a hospital and culminates in a haunting cemetery. Here, the powers of Xangô wane, and Tutu, stripped of his divine strength, faces mortality once more. Bleeding and battered, he confronts his darkest hour. In that moment of despair, a miracle occurs. Yemanjá, his spiritual mother, summons a tempest of unprecedented magnitude. Torrential rain falls, enveloping Tutu, revitalizing his spirit, and granting him the strength to vanquish his adversaries.
With the storm’s fury subsiding, Tutu, battered but resolute, embarks on a solitary journey disappearing into the ocean’s depths once more. In his wake, the community is freed from the grip of malevolence, bathed in the timeless, rhythmic embrace of the sea.
