A grieving mother finds a tear in reality in her home that shows a person’s life from cradle to grave, and when the visions manifest as hauntings, she drags her Midwestern town into a spiral of fear and destruction.
SYNOPSIS:
In the quiet suburb of Charlen, Indiana, museum curator Clara Wren returns home to find her husband and young son dead inside. The town is shaken, and Clara quickly becomes isolated and plagued by disturbing visions. Her assistant, Imani Rhoads, does her best to keep her grounded, while her controlling neighbor Jessa Thorne, a suburban nightmare of a mom, works obsessively to preserve Charlen’s perfect image. Meanwhile, city manager Nick Petralis fixates on cleaning up the town’s sudden surge in roadkill, avoiding the emotional fallout of Clara’s tragedy.
Clara soon uncovers a hidden recording her husband made of a supernatural tear in reality that appeared inside his office closet. The tear shows a person their entire life, including their death, through haunting, fragmented visions. Consumed by grief, Clara becomes determined to find another, convinced the answers to her family’s fate and her own future lie within it.
As Clara’s visions intensify and her grip on reality dissolves, the boundary between the living and the dead begins to blur throughout Charlen. Her pursuit of answers becomes a descent into obsession that threatens to pull the entire town into her unraveling.
