After his ninth move, teen Mac lands in sleepy Pinebridge and gets dragged into a kid-run treehouse complex hidden in the woods. He doesn’t realize he’ll need to recruit its dangerous rival factions just as an ancient supernatural force begins to wake.
SYNOPSIS:
Set in the summer of 1989, Creekbound follows Mac, a thoughtful fifteen-year-old who’s spent his life moving from town to town with his mother, Lisa, after his parents’ divorce. Their latest stop the quiet logging town of Pinebridge feels like every other place they’ve tried to call home: small, strange, and temporary. But when Mac follows his therapist’s advice to “step off the path,” he stumbles into a secret world hidden within the forest that will change his life and the town forever.
In the woods beyond Hallow Creek lies the Treehouse Complex, a sprawling society of teenagers who have built their own independent world high among the branches. They trade, repair, protect, and survive without adults — living by rules of loyalty and secrecy. Their cautious leader, Darren, reluctantly allows Mac to stay after vouching from Riley, a confident and resourceful teen who quickly becomes Mac’s first real friend. Within the Complex, Mac also meets Robin, a quiet yet fearless girl who works as a trader between the other forest factions likethe Bandits and the Pirates.
As Mac begins to find belonging among these self-made outcasts, he starts noticing signs that something weird in the forest. Strange carvings, soft vibrations in the trees, and patches of moss that pulse with faint emerald light hint at a secret older than the Complex itself.
In the pilot episode "Step Off the Path," Mac arrives in Pinebridge and, pushed by his therapist to “step off the path,” follows local kid Riley into the woods and gets dragged into a hidden treehouse complex run entirely by kids. Welcomed into this new world, his first night on guard duty is shattered by a break-in that proves the complex has real enemies, and that Mac is already in deeper than he planned.
At its core, Creekbound is a story about belonging and consequence about what happens when young people inherit the secrets of a world left behind by adults. With the wonder of Gravity Falls, the mystery of Stranger Things, and the emotional heart of The Goonies, Creekbound blends coming-of-age adventure with supernatural intrigue in a world where the forest never forgets — and the roots remember everything.
