DONDE VIVE LA MEMORIA.

DONDE VIVE LA MEMORIA.
By Juan Rodriguez

GENRE: Family, Drama
LOGLINE: A Puerto Rican grandson caring for his grandmother with Alzheimer’s relives the warmth, faith, and traditions she filled his childhood with, discovering that even as her memories fade, the love she gave him never disappears.

SYNOPSIS:

DONDE VIVE LA MEMORIA Donde Vive La Memoria follows Juan, a Puerto Rican man who returns to care for his grandmother, Eneida—the woman who raised him with warmth, faith, and unconditional love. As Alzheimer’s slowly steals Eneida’s memories, Juan struggles with the heartbreak of being forgotten by the person who once made every Christmas magical, filled their home with angel figurines, danced with him during Sábado Gigante, and taught him compassion through the simplest acts, like selling pasteles to pay the bills. Through quiet, intimate moments—feeding her, cleaning her cherished angels, hearing her hum an old lullaby she no longer remembers—Juan relives the life she built for him. Flashbacks reveal the powerful force she was: cooking, dancing, praying for lost souls on 9/11, and creating a home filled with warmth and love. As her mind slips further away, a single fragile moment of clarity breaks through. Eneida reaches for Juan’s face and softly calls him “mi niño”, proving that love lives deeper than memory. Juan realizes her legacy isn’t fading—it lives in him, in the compassion she planted, and in the family he now raises with her same tenderness. A heartfelt, culturally rich short film, Donde Vive La Memoria is a tribute to Boricua grandmothers everywhere and to the love that endures long after memories have vanished.
