SYNOPSIS:
Fifteen years ago, Patrick Bikko lost everything after being falsely accused of a crime by the wealthy man he trusted most, James Harrington. Sent to prison while his mother died believing he was guilty, Patrick rebuilt his life from nothing upon his release, eventually becoming the billionaire founder of a global green-tech empire. In the present, Patrick’s son Jerome Bikko is the confident, charming COO of the company—successful, admired, and emotionally guarded. Despite his privileged world, Jerome longs for something genuine and unexpectedly finds it in Lilly, a fiercely independent artist who values authenticity over wealth. Their romance is natural, playful, and deeply sincere. What Jerome doesn’t know is that Lilly is hiding her last name. She is a Harrington—the daughter of the man who destroyed Patrick’s life. When Jerome insists on a luxury family getaway to bring everyone together, the truth detonates. Old enemies collide, buried resentment erupts, and decades of bitterness resurface. Determined to end the relationship, both fathers secretly join forces, manipulating events with shocking pettiness—engineering jealousy, recruiting Lilly’s charming ex, and orchestrating what they believe is a clean breakup. Unbeknownst to them, Jerome and Lilly uncover the scheme and turn the manipulation into a lesson. As guilt, unexpected romances, and public revelations force the parents to confront their mistakes, the younger generation proves they won’t inherit old grudges or live under inherited shame. Blending romance, comedy, and heartfelt drama, This Is Why We Didn’t Tell Them is a modern rom-com about love surviving legacy, family learning humility, and the courage it takes to choose happiness over pride.
