When a recovering addict wakes beside a crypto billionaire’s corpse, he must evade police and outwit his own identical twin, who has set him up as the perfect fall guy in a criminal enterprise's money laundering scheme.
SYNOPSIS:
“Elliot and I” is a psychological thriller set in the narrow streets of Prague that explores family dysfunction, favouritism, betrayal, and a damaged young man’s fight for redemption.
MIKEY CARPENTER, 25, is an anxious and addiction-struggling aspiring screenwriter who lives with his mother, MARIE. After relapsing, he has a volatile argument with her, and in a moment of emotional collapse, he tells her that he wishes he were dead. His identical twin, ELLIOT, who is confident and distant, receives a worried call from Marie and reaches out with unusual warmth. He invites Mikey on a trip to Prague. Desperate for connection, Mikey agrees.
The trip begins perfectly. Elliot pays for everything and gives Mikey a glimpse of a life he has not felt in years. Guilt eventually pushes Mikey to call Marie, and they reconcile. Soon after, Elliot brings Mikey to a friend’s apartment and encourages him to drink heavily. Mikey wakes the next morning alone, disoriented, and horrified to find the dead body of billionaire crypto investor Pavel Horak.
Panicked and unsure of his own innocence, Mikey flees when police arrive. CCTV shows him distressed while Elliot appears calm, which makes Mikey the prime suspect. DETECTIVE VANESSA KOVAROVA notices troubling inconsistencies, including Mikey’s passport being found at the scene while a drive allegedly containing 350 million dollars is missing. Mikey eventually confronts Elliot at the airport in a breakdown driven by fear and betrayal. Both brothers are arrested. During interrogation, Mikey insists the drive was planted on him, but higher authorities abruptly order both men released. Vanessa later discovers that the drive is blank.
Suspicious, Vanessa secretly follows Elliot to a criminal safehouse and uncovers evidence that Pavel was laundering money for a syndicate. She also learns that the real funds have already been moved. Stranded in Prague without money or a passport, Mikey accepts her unofficial help. Vanessa pushes him to confront the criminals and gather a confession, but the plan collapses when they witness a bribed police officer. This confirms that the syndicate has influence inside law enforcement.
Vanessa then advises Mikey to use his emotional history with Elliot. At a café, Elliot admits that he framed Mikey because the syndicate needed a fall guy with no ties to them. Mikey’s addiction and reputation made him a perfect target. The admission devastates Mikey but strengthens his resolve.
Later, Vanessa breaks into the syndicate hideout and is captured by Elliot. Using her phone, Elliot tricks Mikey into coming to the location. Before entering, Mikey quietly calls Detective Adamcik. Inside, he finds Vanessa bound and wounded as Elliot forces her to aim a gun at Mikey in order to stage a double murder. Under pressure, she shoots Elliot in the hand instead. Mikey reveals the active phone call, and police officers storm in. When Elliot reaches for his weapon, they shoot him.
In the aftermath, Vanessa is suspended for her off-book actions, but she finds peace knowing that she did the right thing. The syndicate is dismantled through coordinated arrests. Mikey begins writing a screenplay titled “Elliot and I.” A producer encourages him to continue. Mikey reconnects with Vanessa and finally answers his mother’s call. She tells him she is proud of him. Mikey replies that he is coming home.
Hi all, had to repost this as I accidentally rated it myself. But this is a thriller, a work in progress, which has partly based on myself and real life problems I've experienced with addiction, family. and recovery. I hope that you like it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
