SYNOPSIS:

Alice and Leonard Engstrom are a popular new couple in a smallish opera company based on a college campus where they are voice professors. One night, they come home from a performance to find that the babysitter has left and their son, Adam, is screaming about a monster he saw. Leonard takes Adam's comments at face value and draws a sketch of the creature that he keeps in his study. Alice carelessly plows into quirky parapsychology grad student Melissa Machone and hires her as a new babysitter. As the company performs a season including Donizetti, Wagner, Verdi, Menotti, Moran, and Nyman, scene after scene comments on the Engstom's behavior, including Alice's insistence that Adam go to a sleep clinic. When the monster is ultimately revealed to be a genuine being through the efforts of Melissa and her adviser, Dr. Norman Chancellor, the communication that occurs surprises all involved...
