SYNOPSIS:

London, 1896 JAKE, a young genius and artist learns the old masters used alchemy to draw people to their paintings. After mixing ancient potions with paint he cracks the code - finding his portraits in extraordinary demand. But when his mistress and inspiration, Emily, dies, galleries decline his art. A Mentor convinces him to revive her using recipes from ancient tomes needing human ingredients. Bodies are fished out of rivers. Finding all his subjects dead, Jake runs to the Police to shop his Mentor - suddenly missing. Assisted by the Royal Psychologist the Police conclude the Mentor was a figment of Jake's imagination and it was he who had murdered all his models. Tried for murder Jake goes to the gallows. But as he swings in the hangman's noose, authorities learn, too late, he wasn't quite as mad as they thought, making some startling discoveries.
