LACK OF COMMUNICATION

LOGLINE: To the surprise and jealousy of his male friends, Ricky Finer, who is in his early forties, becomes disappointed with the younger New York dating scene and wants to meet someone closer to his age. The problem is in how to proceed until his stylish 17-year-old daughter and her girlfriend find the answer.

SYNOPSIS:

Ricky Finer is tired, fed up with the single scene in Manhattan and disappointed with himself for letting it go on for too long. His first wife has remarried and it’s time for him to do the same. He has to wipe the slate clean - break up with the three girls he is casually dating - and donate full time to his new quest;true love. He turns to his married male friends for help, but they all refuse because their wives are still friends with his ex. He then decides to consider the work place in that he is employed by a big international advertising company,but just before he decides to proceed, a co-worker is fired for an alleged sexual misconduct accusation. A strong letter from the Human Resources department is sent out to all employees clearly discouraging everyone to have second thoughts about dating within the company. Taken back by this unexpected obstacle, his seventeen year old daughter, Chelsea, who visits him weekly decides to help. The following week, she and her best friend, Allegra, have dinner with her father in the city. They secretly record their conversation, finding out what his interest are: favorite books, films, music, hobbies, and the like. After dinner, she takes a photo of her father using the excuse that she has found a new love; photography. A few days later, Chelsea posts her father’s photo and profile on the most popular dating web site of the moment. Chelsea, with the help of her friend,then begin the search to find her father true love. The task evolves into extensive and exhausting e-mail conversations with potential female candidates and as far as sometimes having actual one on one meetings, using the excuse that her father had to leave town on business at the last minute. When five girls are finally selected, Chelsea decides to tell her father the truth. Ricky is clearly upset with his daughter’s actions but is also intrigued and agrees to go on the dates.
