IT'S NOT A BEAR! IT HAS A BIGGER FOOT!

IT'S NOT A BEAR! IT HAS A BIGGER FOOT!
By Casey Newel

GENRE: Horror
LOGLINE:

A collective of college students battle turmoil in filming their student film project and the urge to film a terrifying creature they encounter in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

SYNOPSIS:

A collective of students loosely bond over their plans of filming a student documentary, but they are still slow to warm up to each other. Henry prepares the students with his idea of filming the effects of landslides, but Ben astutely identifies they truly don’t care about the student film project because Henry discretely makes plans to buy drugs after they are finished filmmaking. It is apparent that some students want to have fun more than others.

After some awkward ice breakers in team bonding, the students are eager to continue their film with the beautiful scenery at the riverbank. The star of their film, Jordan, delivers her lines about the transformative powers that landslides have on a river’s course. While she speaks, an enormous figure begins to walk between trees on the other hillside across the river. The group is lifted into shock, but Henry is determined to keep filming the creature that is pushing boulders down the hill.

The students arrive at a restaurant to converse amongst themselves about the encounter with the terrifying creature that looks like a bear. They view the footage that Sam captured on the digital camera, but the 1 sec video doesn’t clearly show the creature. After lunch, the students arrive at the top of a mountain that overlooks the Blue Ridge Valley. The group of students start their filming as Jordan gives her closing lines to the student film documentary.

Suddenly, the students hear the creature that stands on top of the hill in front of the students with its arm leaning on a tree. The 8ft tall creature is super hairy with a special design of hair. Its eyes are bloodshot red, and the creature’s grin is terrifying. The creature provokes a great sense of fear, and without thinking, most of the students pull out their phones to record the creature. The creature then takes off in a flash, running at the students with intensity. The students sprint back to the van in hopes of surviving.

The students return to the Blue Ridge cabin, and Jordan and Henry quickly escalate into a heated argument, debating over the seriousness of staying another night at the cabin. The group of students stand divided, but Henry takes the lead and walks back into the cabin to recollect his thoughts. Henry and Chris plan to celebrate their recording of Bigfoot with social media notoriety and a cabin party. We can only conclude that the creature finds where they stay to continue its haunting. The Bigfoot swiftly kills Chris before the future flashes before his eyes. We see Henry, Jordan, Sam, and Ben become the flashforward victims of Bigfoot.
