They risked their lives to create a miracle. A fire show that amazed the world for three centuries: the dome of St. Peter’s blazed at night with thousands of lights — a spectacle unmatched by anything else
SYNOPSIS:
For three centuries, on Easter night, the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica would ignite like a giant torch. It was the most spectacular and dangerous show on the planet. The Sanpietrini, the Vatican’s masons, performed the impossible: without any safety lines, they climbed to the very top of the dome to light thousands of candles exactly at the strike of the first bell. They faced mortal danger, knowing that a single mistake could be their last. Their skill and courage were the only guarantee of the miracle. Our film will reveal the engineering secrets behind this lost ritual and recreate it in stunning detail. Using historical research, archival materials, and cutting-edge visual effects, audiences will witness the fiery spectacle as it once illuminated the dome — a spectacle unmatched anywhere in the world.
The project combines historical significance, visual spectacle, and broad audience appeal. To my knowledge, this topic has not yet been covered in documentary format, making the film unique and with strong potential for international interest.
I have prepared all project materials to convey the concept and atmosphere of the film: logline, synopsis, teaser, trailer, poster, and project presentation. The teaser and trailer were created personally by me, using publicly available materials. I am not a professional editor, so the technical quality is not the focus; these materials are intended to illustrate the idea, visual concept, and overall atmosphere of the project.
At this stage, I am seeking a partner who could act as a producer or distributor interested in supporting the production and promotion of the film, including potential international collaboration.
All project materials can be accessed here:
This sounds incredibly interesting Elena Sobol. I would consider polishing the logline because I can't tell what the plot or conflict of the story are. Here's a template that I use if you're interested:
“After ______ (the inciting incident/the event that sets the plot in motion), a _______ (an adjective and the protagonist's position/role) tries to _______ (goal of story) so/in order to ________ (stakes).”
