LOGLINE:

When a renowned love coach unexpectedly receives a wedding invitation from her ex-fiancé on Valentine's Day, she launches a frantic, thirty-day quest to find love—and a ring—before his big day, enlisting the help of her three closest friends for the wildest adventure of her life.

SYNOPSIS:

BRIANA PAYNE (40’ish) is a fiery, wild, bachelorette and the know-it-all celebrity "Love Coach" of a popular dating show called Checkmate. At the start of the series, she is living her best life despite a chorus of annoying naysayers who hassle her for never having been married and who loudly ponder the status of her sex life. When she receives the bombshell of a wedding invitation - on Valentines Day no less! - from her estranged ex-fiancé and the true love of her life (who also happens to invite her three closest girlfriends to boot), Briana's reality is turned upside down. Suddenly her fabulous, single lifestyle is a liability, and Briana makes the rash decision to not only attend the wedding with her posse but show up married or engaged. Her girlfriends try to convince Briana to drop the madness of this scheme, but she is hellbent on showing her beloved ex that she's got the marital goods too, plus she's had it with all the roasting from a judgmental peanut gallery forever questioning her "loveless" and "sexless" habits!

Briana now launches a mission to find either Mr. Right or Mr. Right now, and to prove to her friends and her ex-fiancé that she too is marriage material.

With only thirty days until the big wedding, Briana races against the clock to lock in her own groom to be. This is no easy feat, especially since it's been over a decade since Briana has even stepped out for coffee with a man. The dating world has drastically changed and is more like a digital jungle with new cues and unfamiliar mating calls. On this unchartered quest Briana encounters a colorful cast of suitors, including a gold-digger, fetishist, a lesbian, a polygamist and a witch doctor. Each encounter brings both comedic and challenging moments as Briana is forced to face her own unresolved insecurities and oversized feelings from the past.

To make matters worse, just when Briana thinks life couldn't get more complicated, a new executive producer takes over her popular show, and suddenly Briana goes from being a superstar talk show host, to watching her own life become the entire show.

Through Briana’s journey, Dang Gurl highlights the comic and epic odyssey so many of us suffer as we wrestle with self-worth, societal pressure, and the new realities of modern dating.
