“The Culling” explores how individuals and groups of people react as thousands of us float up into space every couple of weeks, never to be seen again. How will we feel and how will we act after learning that alien beings are involved in these departures?
SYNOPSIS:
With humans randomly being culled all across the world; scientists are analyzing what is happening to our bodies and how, and to where, we are traveling; religious and political leaders are debating why this is happening; members of the media are figuring out how to report incomprehensible news; families are deciding what to tell their children; and support communities are growing in response to the terror caused as thousands exit the earth at each full and new moon. When it’s determined that alien objects are arriving outside our atmosphere at the same time human bodies are departing, it’s no surprise some of us choose to fight against this phenomenon. Others of us, perhaps surprisingly, find ways to adapt to this new reality and even thrive.
As viewers meet the portrayed characters and groups experiencing these traumatic events, they might see more clearly what is truly important to them individually, and to humans collectively. Viewers might then decide to live their lives more mindfully, more intentionally … as if they could be gone by next week. Some might even feel moved to host their very own “Culling Party.”
