REGRESS

REGRESS
By Murray Walker

GENRE: Action, Science Fiction
LOGLINE:

After a deadly pandemic leaves most survivors mentally impaired, three communities battle for control of Omega B, the only drug that can restore their minds and rebuild their world.

SYNOPSIS:

In a future scarred by a catastrophic pandemic, humanity is on the brink of collapse. The Brain Bug pandemic has decimated 99% of the population, leaving survivors with diminished intellects. Amidst this chaos, the struggle to obtain Omega B, a rare drug offering temporary cognitive enhancement, becomes the cornerstone of survival and the faint hope of reclaiming a crumbling civilization.

The story unfolds across four distinct groups, each fighting for their future in a world unrecognizable from our own. The Elites, once the brightest minds, now reside in the fortified complex of Camelot, desperately clinging to their fading supremacy through organ harvesting (of Pleb youths) and ruthless governance. In contrast, the Plebs, led by the formidable Matt Walker, survive in a makeshift settlement known as Shanty, constantly under threat from Elite raids and their own unstable Omega B alternative, StreF.

In the forests, the Instinctives, led by the adept survivalist Wolf Kruger, live harmoniously with nature, exemplifying a life uncorrupted by the trappings of advanced civilization. Their existence intertwines with the Plebs through Zane Kruger, Wolf's son, whose natural immunity to the Brain Bug makes him a beacon of hope.

Lurking beyond the fringes of these settlements are the Wendigos, cannibalistic mutants who represent the darkest depths of human despair and adaptability. They are a constant threat, embodying the brutal reality of this new world.

Regress delves into the complexities of survival, power struggles, and the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity. As the Elites pursue young Zane for his unique immunity, alliances form and conflicts erupt among the factions. The Plebs and Instinctives unite against the Elite threat, while the Wendigos loom as an ever-present danger.

The narrative arc spans desperate battles for resources, moral dilemmas, and the search for a semblance of humanity in a world where the line between survival and cruelty is blurred. The show weaves action, horror, and drama against a backdrop of environmental devastation and societal collapse. It's a story of resilience, the quest for power, and the enduring hope for a better future, even as the very essence of humanity is put to the test.

Regress is not just a tale of survival; it's a reflection on the human condition, challenging viewers to ponder the cost of progress and the true meaning of being human in a world regressed to its primal roots.
